How To Prep Your Home For Winter

This post is sponsored by One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating® techniciansAll thoughts and opinions are my own.

When the cooler weather (or blizzard-esque weather) comes around in the winter, your HVAC system is often pushed to the ultimate test. These are few things you can do to prep your home for winter so that you aren’t stuck out in the cold – literally!

1. GET PROFESSIONAL HELP: Enlist the help of a professional to check your furnace! When working with our local One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® service provider  to do a thorough inspection of our HVAC system, I really felt confident that he knew exactly what he was talking about! The One Hour technicians are highlyskilled to solve any HVAC issue, and they also receive ongoing training to make sure they are wellversed in all HVAC systems and potential problems. Making sure that your HVAC system will be reliable throughout the winter can give you a lot of peace of mind! To find the location near you, visit their website or call 855-One-Hour

2. CHANGE AIR FILTERS: Not only will changing air filters increase your HVAC’s performance but it will also save you money! Having a dirty air filter can waste a ton of energy and cost you some precious pennies.

3. WINTERIZE YOUR AC UNIT: This may sound silly but when frost comes to bite, you’ll be glad you were prepared! Winterizing your AC unit consists of a few simple steps that can protect you when the temperatures drop drastically at night. Cleaning the unit, the area around the unit, and making sure that its safely and properly insulated can be a huge lifesaver during the freezing and below freezing temperatures.

(Our tech, David, and his lovely assistant. Paige was really excited to learn ALL about HVAC systems.)

I would highly suggest taking the time to work with a professional who is skilled and educated in HVAC systems, how they work, potential issues and how to resolve them. The fall season is a great time to begin any “winter prep,” so be sure to pin this post for future reference! I am so glad that I got to team up with One Hour technicians and really give you an inside look at what its like to work with one of their technicians.

We (especially, Eli) love our air conditioning in the summer and our heat in the winter, so the peace of mind that working with a professional can bring is totally priceless! Thank you so much David and the One Hour crew for taking care of us!
